Carl Taylor
Psychologist Specialising in Psychotherapy
BSc (Hons), MA, Post-MA Dip, PGDip, CPsychol, AFBPsS
I completed my undergraduate studies in Psychology with honours (BSc Hons) at Royal Holloway College (University of London) in 1998. Following that, I pursued a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology at Regents College, and subsequently obtained a Post-Master’s Diploma in Existential Counselling Psychology.
Continuing my professional development, I furthered my expertise by acquiring a Post Graduate Diploma in Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) in 2012. This allowed me to achieve accreditation as a CAT supervisor in 2014. Expanding my knowledge even further, I underwent clinical training in Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT) and obtained accreditation as an MBT Practitioner with the British Psychoanalytic Council in 2015.
Clinical Experience
With over 21 years of clinical experience, including 14 years within the National Health Service (NHS), I have gained expertise in various areas. I began my career in 2002 working in psychotherapy services for universities and charitable trusts. In 2006, I focused on specialising in anxiety, depression, and personality disorders within the NHS.
During my time at the South London and Maudsley NHS Trust (SLaM), I held a senior position as the lead clinician for Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) and Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT) services in the Lewisham Integrated Psychological Therapies Service (Lewisham IPTT).
Throughout my professional career at SLaM, I have worked in Psychiatric Inpatient Wards, Community Mental Health Teams, and Integrated Psychology and Psychotherapy services. I have provided clinical consultation to colleagues and supervised and managed qualified and trainee clinical and counselling psychologists.
Since leaving the NHS in 2020, I have continued to support individuals facing long-term difficulties. My primary focus is creating a safe and collaborative environment where we can explore and overcome barriers to personal growth and overall well-being.
I have worked in various settings within the NHS and provided supervision and consultation to other professionals. Currently, I am dedicated to helping individuals overcome challenges and achieve personal growth and well-being.
