Clinical Supervision

A reflective, space to think about your work

Carl is an accredited Clinical Supervisor with the British Psychological Society and the Association for Cognitive Analytic Therapy. With over 20 years of experience, he has supervised trainee and qualified psychologists across the NHS and independent practice.

a reflective and collaborative space

Supervision offers a reflective and collaborative space to think carefully about clinical work, professional development, and the emotional demands of practice. My approach is formulation-led, relational, and focused on development, supporting practitioners to think clearly about their work and the patterns that emerge within it.

The supervision I offer draws on over 20 years of professional experience across NHS, charitable, and independent settings.

Supervision with Carl

I am an accredited Clinical Supervisor with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and the Association for Cognitive Analytic Therapy (ACAT). I have supervised trainee and qualified counselling and clinical psychologists across both NHS and independent practice settings.

During 14 years at South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, I worked within community mental health teams and specialist psychological therapy services. My roles included leading the Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) and Mentalization-Based Therapy (MBT) services within Lewisham IPTT and providing psychological consultation to multidisciplinary teams.

Alongside extensive supervision experience, I have completed specialist supervisor training, including BPS-accredited supervision training and advanced relational supervision training in Cognitive Analytic Therapy. Since moving into independent practice, I continue to supervise psychologists in private practice and early-career practitioners developing their professional identity.

What Supervisees Value

Supervision aims to provide a thoughtful and containing space to think carefully about clinical work. The focus is on balancing emotional attunement with clear psychological thinking, particularly when working with complex presentations or relationally demanding work.

Over time, supervision can support both clinical depth and growing professional confidence.

Starting Supervision

Supervision works best when it feels like a good fit.

If you’re looking for a reflective and collaborative supervisory relationship that supports depth, clarity, and professional development, you’re welcome to get in touch.

An initial conversation allows us to talk through your role, context, and supervision needs, and to see whether working together feels right.

Practicalities

Ongoing supervision is £100 per 60-minute session.

Sessions are usually 60 or 90 minutes and can take place fortnightly or monthly, depending on what best supports your work and professional requirements.

One-off consultations or ad-hoc supervision sessions are £120 per hour. These sessions are intended for reflective discussion about clinical work and professional development rather than crisis or risk management.

Meetings take place online via Zoom.
